Invented first in 1850, the dishwasher was created to help people in their home. This appliance was considered an extremely rare treat for homes to have because it was not a necessity. In 1906 a design was made where propellers in fact spray water onto the dishes through jets. This design is the basic same one that dishwashers today follow. This is compared to the old dishwashers with paddles and cradled dishes.
